Maria has been with Lachenmeier Monsun for 11 years. From educational bacground as industrial painter, she stepped into the world of bulk handling systems and steel production without prior knowledge of the industry. Today, she is a vital part of the warehouse team - a role that has shaped her both professionally and personally.
I work in the warehouse. If you like physically demanding work where things evolves rather fast - driving around, packing components, keeping things moving, then I think it is a great job. I really like the learning aspect of the work and the challenges that come with it. Sorting things out and finding solutions is something I find exciting.
I have professional background as an industrial painter and started from scratch, knowing nothing about stainless or black steel. It was completely new to me. My older brother was a trainee out here, and he asked if it was something for me. I just tried it - and I am still here.
I was welcomed very well, even though I was new to the field. No one made you feel out of place for not having the answers yet, you were given the space to learn and find your footing.
Personally, I have become much more outgoing and have learned to speak up. I used to be a quiet person, but here you learn a lot about yourself and develop. The work demands that you engage, take ownership, and be present - that has made me stronger.
Good colleagues and a strong sense of solidarity. A good colleague is someone you get along with. Someone you can talk to. Someone who can help you. I think we are all good at helping each other and giving a hand when needed.
That is probably the most important thing - that you feel good out here. You are happy to be here, happy with the tasks assigned, and happy with your colleagues. When you make an extra effort, they are good at recognising it - especially the managers.
Professional pride, how we treat each other, and how we help each other. We are good at helping each other and stepping in when someone needs it, even if we are in different departments. We cross boundaries to help each other, and it is important that you can move around and learn new things.
